Start with the controlling source.

State law provides the agricultural-appraisal framework. Appraisal districts publish and apply local standards. We link to those primary sources wherever available and keep their requirements separate from our practical suggestions.

Our county directory covers all 254 Texas counties. It currently includes 25 developed guides: 15 with district-published hive figures and 10 using clearly attributed association figures. The other 229 entries provide official district resources without inventing hive counts or eligibility decisions.

What each evidence label means

District-published

A figure comes from the named appraisal district’s published material. Read the linked document, its effective date, and any qualification beside the figure.

Association-reported

A figure comes from the Texas Beekeepers Association’s June 2024 compilation. It is attributed secondary information, not a newly verified district decision. Confirm it against the district’s current instructions.

Practical record

A suggestion for keeping a useful paper trail. It is not presented as a legal requirement unless a cited source supports that requirement.

Not verified in this directory

We have not established a current local hive schedule for that entry. This does not mean the county prohibits beekeeping appraisal.

Review dates and corrections

County-source review dates describe when the source material was checked. They do not renew automatically when the website is built. A document’s publication year, the activity year being reported, and its filing deadline are recorded separately.

We preserve qualifications, overlapping acreage bands, and conflicting or older terminology rather than silently choosing a convenient number. We identify older bee-registration terminology when a newer TAIS explanation affects how it should be read.

The county guidance is available as ordinary HTML and as a structured reference file. The file preserves unknown values, source links, evidence levels, acreage assumptions, and review dates. It is a companion to the full county pages, not an automated eligibility decision.
